Newborns: Ryder | Hawaii Newborn Photographer

I had the recent pleasure of photographing this handsome little babe. Welcome to the world Ryder!!! His mama informed me that part of his nursery theme was stars so I incorporated that into our newborn shoot. I created stars, which I hung from the backdrop to create an outer space feel to the images. I have collected a number of Monster beanies from my favorite prop shop Sweet Love Creates—they complemented the whole stars and outer space look of the images. In the middle of the shoot, I was rummaging through my stash of hats and Yoda caught my eye. I just had to try Yoda out because it went so well with the whole set-up. I’m so happy I did, because this Yoda image is seriously one of my favorite newborn shots that I have ever taken!!! How adorable is Ryder as Yoda?!?! Too cute!!!

I also captured some classic poses and shots of Ryder sans hats, props and starry backdrops. Doesn’t he have the some of the yummiest little lips ever?!?! I love their fullness!!! He was the perfect little model and I adored working with him and creating keepsake images for his family.

Thank you Eileen and Rodrigue for a wonderful day with your little babe!!! I enjoyed getting to know both of you and photographing the newest little man in your life!!! Congratulations and thank you for choosing me to capture this beautiful time in your lives!!!

Bucket List: Petra, Jordan

I have seriously been dying to go to Petra, Jordan. I first laid eyes on this UNESCO World Heritage Site when it was featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I remember watching the movie as a young child and wondering if it was “real” or a built movie set. I told myself that if it were a real place then one day I would make it there. I have not been there yet, but I know that one day I will make it to Petra…one day. It is amazingly gorgeous and intriguing. I love ancient wonders of our world. I cannot wait for that moment when I am walking through the gorge and standing in front of this beautiful piece of architecture!!!

Confessions of a Small Business Owner VOL. II

Another challenge with owning my own business is getting my name and my photography work out there. People who own their own businesses say that I am impatient because I want to be at “Point B” in my business and I’m still at “Point A” in my mind. They all tell me the same thing—“It takes time. You need to be patient.”

As patient as I am trying to be, I can be realistic too. Aaaaaand I am not too proud to ask for help. To all of my wonderful clients, faithful blog readers, fans, family and friends…I need your help in spreading my name. Newborns: Ailee | Hawaii Newborn Photographer

This beautiful little babe was a sleepy, sleepy little girl. Meet Ailee. I love her name—it’s so unique and sweet!!! Her mommy and daddy kept her up for a few hours before she arrived so she was tired and ready to be photographed. I adored working with her and she totally rocked it out at her session!!! Since she was so sleepy I was able to get her into many different positions and change out many different hats, sets and headbands!!! You have to see how adorably cute she is as a little monkey and a puppy!!!

Ailee also gave me some smiles. My heart skips a beat every time a newborn smiles at his/her session. I am still developing my skills at being able to tell when newborns are going to smile while I’m working with them. Sometimes I’m right and sometimes I’m not. To capture that smile in an image is priceless and melts my heart every single time. I’m so happy that I was able to capture some smiles from Ailee
